UGG Boots: Where Comfort Meets Style
It does not seem possible to be comfortable and stylish at the same time, and yet that is what UGG Boots has accomplished with its line of unique footwear. Since 1978, when Uggs was founded by Brian Smith, a surfer from Australia, the company has provided boots that offer both style and comfort. Smith gets the credit for introducing UGG Boots to the surfer community in California and from there the popularity spread.
What is different about the process that Australian UGG boots uses is that both sides of the sheepskin are treated, the fleece and the skin side. It is extra work but the results are worth it. The first quality sheepskin becomes very durable while retaining its softness: That means extra comfort and wear.
Care
It is important to remember that sheep are tough creatures and that’s what the boots are made of, so care of UGG Australia boots is minimal. The boots can be washed in mild soapy water, rinsed thoroughly, and then put in the spin cycle of the washer to get rid of excess water. Stuff with paper towels and dry away from heat and direct sunshine.
The boots can be easily deodorized with a powder made from equal parts baking soda and corn flour. If you do not have corn flour put corn meal in a blender for a minute or two. Dust a few tablespoons in the UGG boots overnight, shake out in the morning, and your boots are sweet smelling again.
Authentic UGG Boots
Authentic UGG boots may have a synthetic rubber sole but they are always made from one piece of sheep skin, not two pieces glued together. There is no cowhide used in the process, such as suede on the outside with sheepskin on the inside. And of course no synthetic materials are used. These days it is difficult to tell synthetics from the real thing just by sight or even touching. The difference becomes obvious when wearing the synthetic boots because they do not confirm to your foot and the boot does not breathe.
Women’s Tall Boots
The woman’s Classic Tall UGG boot has a new look this season with metallic gold, marbled nickel or marbled copper leathers but it is the same old familiar feeling of comfort. Other colors include chestnut, black, chocolate, sand, and gray. For more formal occasions try the Classic Tall in romantic flower, a floral print in shades of pinks, and rose complimented with a touch of purple.
Try the Classic Tall boot with skinny jeans tucked inside for a different look. Paired with a sweater or jacket in the same color as the boot, the look is complete. The boots go with boot cut jeans and can be worn with skirts. For those who prefer the adventurous side of fashion, leather and lace always go together.
The metallic colors are fashion forward and combine beautifully with animal prints such as leopard, tiger, or zebra (faux of course). Play off the metallic with the same shades of old gold, copper, and nickel in big chunky bracelets, earring, or necklace, but not all at once please.
Alter the look on the Classic boot by folding down the cuff to expose the sheepskin. This one boot gives you a lot of looks.
Women’s Dress Boots
The Stella is a zippered boot that fits close to the calf and features a stacked 2.75 inch leather heel for a more formal look. The suede finish on the boot is accented by smooth leather on the heel and a band at the top. Stella comes in black and espresso. Perfect combined with a skirted suit for the office or a dress with a jacket. Picking up the color of the boot in a leather belt is a smart finishing touch.
The Caroline boot is all wrapped up in fashion as the boot is accented by a belt that wraps around the 12.5 inch shaft and buckles at the top of the boot. The 2.75 inch stacked leather heel makes it perfect for dressier occasions but it still feels and looks at home with jeans. For evening wear combine the boot with silk pants and a velour sweater. Or a black lace skirt and gold metallic blouse. In cooler months a velour skirt and cashmere sweater would be a perfect outfit.
