Australia Oatmeal
cat litter? oatmeal?

I’ve heard you can use oatmeal as a substitute for cat litter. We just bought a new kitten today (male) and it was very short notice. We bought him off mum friend who was selling them so basically we haven’t prepared and we haven’t got anything except his food and water. We made a bed out of a cardboard box with some sheets so it isn’t so hard and we’re using a shoebox with oatmeal in it for when he needs to go. Is it okay to use oatmeal? And when I do buy him new cat litter, can anyone suggest what one’s the best? I live in Australia.
And when can I use flea control on him? He’s 6 months old.

Oatmeal is a great idea! You can also use shredded paper, like the kind from a desk confetti shredder. I can’t give you a name brand kitty litter that is better than another but I can tell you from alot of experience that the finer the litter the better. Ash if preferable because it is less likely to be tracked about the house and clumps better. Also, you can use flea treatments on cats after they are 8 weeks old. So you can treat him now. Good luck!!!
